The final section of the Calgary Ring Road was constructed under two design-build contracts and one design-bid-build contract, totalling more than $1 billion.

The new infrastructure included:

  • nine kilometres of new road
  • five kilometres of Trans-Canada Highway upgrades
  • six interchanges
  • 24 bridges

  • held five in-person public information sessions attended by more than 1,400 people
  • wrote 175 weekly project updates with average open rates of 70%

Selected images, researched and wrote content for 175 project updates which received numerous complimentary emails from recipients confirming the updates were achieving communications goals.

I receive these periodically and every time I do, I can't help but think that these are a Masterclass in Change Management and Comms. Very well done to the team that is working so hard to prepare and distribute these updates! Kudos!

I just wanted to note that it is evident that somebody is spending a lot of time compiling these updates and it shows. Great work!!! I think that providing this information to the general public is a very good PR move. And, being somebody in the industry, the notes are very cleverly written by somebody with knowledge of the industry and practices and explains it in a way that the average Joe can understand. Again – GREAT WORK!!!!

Thanks so much for all the msgs over the years. It's been fascinating seeing what goes into building this kind of a project, and I've learnt a lot. I have to admit that I now have a greater appreciation for the planning and execution of the ring road. Great work!

Planned and implemented in-person and online information sessions, including developing materials, graphics and scripts, advertising and logistics.
